Literary writing workshops for migrant workers (2016)

We ran weekly writing workshops where participants learned about how to narrate their feelings and thoughts in the form of prose and poetry. More specifically, participants were introduced to the main elements of literary writing, such as theme, plot, characters and characterization, symbolism, point of view, tone, and so on. By the end of these workshops, participants had developed a literary work of their own. Some of these poems and short stories won various literary writing competitions, while others were collated and published as an anthology (download here).

We thank the so many generous people involved in this project, especially our amazing colleagues at the Centre for Domestic Employees, who provided us with their space and facilities for our use, as well as Ms Adriana Rahajeng Mintarsih who rallied support from the University of Indonesia and made the publication of this anthology possible.
